A Message For the Liberal Minded
This is a warning from a drop out of your corrupt system.
Several years ago I was operating a business one day when my radio sales rep came in to see me. She asked me if I had ever noticed the homeless guy who was sitting in front of the convenience store next door to my business.
I told her that I had seen him there before and asked her why she had asked. She then asked me if I had ever talked to him. I told her that I had not. She explained that he was a brilliant man and was also an astrophysicist. She said she had asked him why he was homeless and sitting in front of the store and he explained that he had grown disgusted with the system and decided that he would no longer participate.
I understood his position completely because, although I had not dropped out yet, I knew who John Galt was and why people would drop out. I had experienced years of government regulation, intervention, and their re-distribution of income and was sick of it myself. I had not quite reached the point of dropping out of the system at that time. I was still struggling trying to make it work for me IN SPITE of what seemed like a never ending effort on the part of the federal government to make the task an impossible one.
I never forgot that day, or that man. It gnawed on me for a several years, because I knew he was right and that I was wrong for helping a corrupt system and furthering their agenda while fighting to survive. I finally had my fill and I decided that I would no longer participate in, nor support, a corrupt system. I have never asked another man to live his life for me nor will I be forced to live my life for another. I write this as you warning as to what lays before you.
It is not, however, my responsibility to save you from yourself. I offer you the advise of re-thinking your position. The consequences of your choices and those demands you place on others will bring you your just rewards. Your future will be your creation and your problem. I write not out of sympathy for you or what awaits you, merely to caution you to find truth.
I had owned about 20 different businesses over the years and had hired and employed thousands of people. I could do so now, but I refuse to participate in the corruption. By participating we essentially endorse the evil and promote it in our struggle to succeed in spite of all the efforts to prevent our success. We become the hosts for the parasites.
I decided that I was no longer willing to fight the vilifying, criticizing, bad-mouthing, and regulating. I decided that I no longer cared to assume the risk and liabilities of being an employer while being attacked by the government and the employees who were encouraged to do the same by unions and big government. I decided that I was nothing more than a whipping boy and a tax collector for the government. If I made a profit...in spite of all their efforts to prevent it... it would be taken from me anyway.
The costs exceeded the rewards. The risks and liabilities were no longer justified. Who needs the headaches? The incentives to produce were being destroyed. It is my hope that this might be read by some of those who think earnings should be taken from those of ability and given to others based on their perceived "need". There is some seriously stupid thinking going on in this country. It is evil at its core and misguided at best.
There is no doubt that for decades the government has taken from each according to their ability and given to each according to their need. It has gotten progressively worse. The end result is that "needy" will be all you have left. I could hire. I could open businesses and employ.....but I refuse to do so. I am not the only potential employer who has dropped out. You are driving us out of the country, out of business, and destroying our willingness to be your host. You stop or you will soon be feeding on each other.
When I was young we were always happy to have a job and we worked hard to keep it. We were loyal to our employers. We looked up to those who had succeeded. They were examples to us of the american dream.That has changed now. People think they are entitled to a job and, if they find one, then they feel entitled to dictate the terms of their employment. It is a job destroying attitude that inevitably invites more and more government regulation and more government control and fewer jobs. Because employers will not put up with it forever and taking their profits from them will bring the end all the sooner.
I grew tired of being told HOW I HAD TO RUN A BUSINESS THAT BELONGED TO ME. All of you who think the government should control employers need to go out and try to be an employer. When you OWN it ...it is YOURS. The decisions of how to operate your business should be yours. The natural progression of this is that people who cannot run the businesses they own and are not allowed to make their own decisions will quit. What you people want is for the government to make all the decisions and FORCE YOUR WILL on employers and the only way they can do so...ultimately ...is for the government to own all the businesses.
I decided that I could make all the money I needed working all by myself and doing what I could do... alone ...with no more employees no risk, no liabilities, no headaches, and no more government dictates. I have stopped hiring. Life has been much better for me since I quit. All I have seen since I dropped out of the system is more of the same which of course is the natural progression of this line of thinking. The more you get the more you want. There is always an end result and it is predictable.
I realize that for years our young have received a corrupted education from the radical left and have had their thinking twisted so far from reality that they have no idea just how incredibly erroneous their thinking is. I listen to the words which come out of the mouths of the academics and liberals on television and I think there is no hope for the country. What a twisted ideology! These people have no experience at all in the business world. They have never lived under the type of system they so whole heartedly support, yet they propose to destroy the only successful system of government the world has ever known based on some ideologic theory which has proven it cannot deliver. They live in a lie.
That they can espouse this non-sense in spite of the fact that socialism, fascism, and communism have proven themselves to be failed concepts based on lies and false hopes over and over throughout history is incredible and incomprehensible to me. Re-distribution of income is unconstitutional in this country and always produces the same end result.
I listened to several young people on television explaining how they believed that no one should make over $75,000 a year. They claim that all these people who make more should have it taken away and given to those who make less. That is your income re-distribution and I will tell you where it takes those naive enough to believe in such a preposterous concept. Because these people have no idea of that which they speak.
The first thing that happens with such a system is that you remove any possible reward for opening a business, creating jobs, or making a profit. People do not sign million dollar notes and assume all the risks and liabilities of opening a business unless there is a potential for reward. You don't work 24/7 just to provide jobs for the "common good". Criminalize their profits or take those profits away from them and they will stop creating those jobs. They will not open new businesses. They will close existing businesses. Jobs will be gone and will no longer be created.
These entrepreneurs are quite capable of supporting themselves. They do not need to be an employer. They do not become successful on the backs of the worker.They do not need employees. Capable people can support themselves. It is the people, the employees, the workers, who NEED THEM. You will not punish them by taking their money or their business. They will not produce or provide jobs at the point of a gun nor because the "needy" demand it. They will drop out. They will disappear from view. They will simply start taking care of themselves. You people who want to be the takers will find that soon there will be no one to take from. You will find there are no jobs. There will be no competition for wages. All that will be left is government employment.
When these inventors, achievers, producers, and employers are gone, you will have only government. Where then will they get their money to support you? Who will set your wages when there is no other employer but the government? When they have no rich left to tax...who then will they tax? So, you will work for lower wages because they can no longer tax the rich to support you. You will work for them. They will call all the shots. Your income will go back down and you will find yourself in bondage and poor as well. You will not complain about the government or you will be "re-educated". You can insist that they take from others, but only until such time that it is time to take it from you.
The current course in this country is toward globalism. Manufacturing companies are leaving this country. Wages and governmental controls are driving them out. It is estimated that 40 million jobs will be lost in this country over the next 10 years. The income re-distribution and wage "equality" you seek will be the equality of wages throughout the world. You will soon be competing with the millions in China and India who work for ONE DOLLAR a day in many cases.
When the wealthy you want to take from here are gone, you will become the ones
who are the wealthy in the eyes of those in other countries and then yours will be taken so that they may be better off. They will be the needy and you the ones with too much.
But, why complain when there is no alternative left. The only thing...the only chance..the only way..that you could ever have had more than you have now....is to have the "opportunity" to stand on your own two feet and work to make it happen. The idea that you can take it from those who have made it is a false premise. Travel down that road and you will find you end up without the increase in income, the money you never earned, in the end anyway. The price you will pay is to be stuck in poverty and bondage forever. You will surrender your liberty and your opportunity for ill gotten gains which are but temporary.
What you are doing is destroying the only chance you ever had at prosperity by surrendering the "opportunity". Personally, I think all of you who think you should have "equal things" should go live in a country where they promise such a thing and live under their rules for a couple of years. You'll come begging back to the USA where life in jail is better than life anywhere else. Why the hell do you think all these immigrants come here to escape the oppression you so readily ask for?
The system of taking based on ability and giving based on need always evolves into tyranny and force. To do this you end up living at the point of a gun and your life is forfeit. ANY system which must be perpetrated on a people by force and at the point of a gun is inherently EVIL. Why do you think they must destroy religion to succeed? You tear down another man's house to build up your own and in time yours will be torn down in turn. If his house is not safe neither is yours. SOON....NO ONE HAS ONE.
The 10 commandments say "thou shalt not covet thy neighbor". That was written centuries ago. Do you think it was without reason? Do you think that no longer applies? Do you think that wanting to take another's money, money they have earned, to increase your own is NOT coveting your neighbor?
Did you hear "thou shalt not steal" Do you realize that for the government to take the money another has earned is THEFT? Do you think to insist the government take it from another at the point of a gun so that you can have it makes you less a thief? What is the difference if you just took it from them at the point of a gun yourself?
People who support this thinking are being used. They are the vehicles by which the radicals gain control of the government. The radicals gain control with lies and deception. A promise of something for nothing and by the time you realize there is nothing...that they could never deliver....it is too late...YOU have been delivered UNTO THEM and they will throw you under the bus for their own selfish desire for power, money, and control. They will love you as long as you support them but the moment you awaken to the truth they will turn on you.
If you do not believe that, then you need to pay attention to how this administration is operating right now. It is the tip of the iceberg. I tell you this, that the Democratic party has claimed to look after the poor and down trodden for decades. They have been re-distributing for decades. But you look into the inner cities, the ghettos, and the slums. What you will find is that it is the Democrats who have controlled the city councils and the school boards in those areas for 100 years. They have kept the heel of their boot squarely on the neck of every black and hispanic child for decades. So, where did all those billions they siphoned off the supposedly rich disappear to? The truth is that there is no help from these people who take in the name of giving.
It is evidence of the false promises. These union folks and the blacks and hispanics that are supporting their agenda are being deceived. They are being used. The government has taken billions upon billions and no benefit has ever come to these groups. Yet the lies and the claims to help continue to pour forth from the takers.
In the history of this country there have been numerous groups of "so called minorities" over the centuries, but they have always integrated themselves into society and became productive americans. I ask you why has the black and Hispanic population been kept largely from doing so? Who is behind it? It is not the average american who stands in the way.
It is the policies of a government which holds out false promises and undermines the incentives for them to produce, integrate, and stand on their own two feet. Entitlement programs do not encourage independence. They encourage dependence. They keep these people at their mercy by offering them something for nothing. But these promises do nothing to elevate them out of poverty. They are offered false hope and remain frustrated. It will not change for them until they reject the idea that government can, or will, take care of them and turn to themselves to change their station in life.
When are you people going to wake up? This country is moving to a form a government in which 90 % of all the wealth will be controlled by the government and the 10 percent of the elite who are in control. The remaining 90% of the people will then be locked into perpetual poverty and no way out. EVER! There will no longer be hope....nor opportunity ...nor prosperity...nor choice. There will only be poverty ...oppression..and tyranny; suffering and death.
Good government requires no force and no mandates. Good government does not infringe on natural laws nor the rights of man. Good government does not require enforcement at the point of a gun.
Progress is made with incentives not penalties. Prosperity comes from property rights and liberty. Wealth comes from opportunity not slavery.
Takers are takers. It makes no difference if they promise to give. They will take from one group until there is nothing left to take, and then they will turn to another group. They are parasites. No one is safe from their greed. They take from others while promising to give to you. ALL they do is take and everyone's turn will come. A thief is a thief and if you associate with them it is only a matter of time until you are their victim.
If you propose that a thing should be taken from another who has earned it, and to whom it lawfully belongs, you are a thief. The fact that you demand that a government do it for you makes you no less the thief. You commission the act and you own it. If you demand they legalize their theft, then you legalize them to take what you have for another....and that day always comes. Be careful what you ask for.
You still have the freedom of mobility. If you think employers are a bad thing, then do not work for them and become an employer yourself. If you do not like your job conditions, find another. Be loyal to those who provide your job or move on. As long as you draw a paycheck from your employer, you owe them your loyalty. If you cannot be loyal to your employer you need to find another job.
The government was never the answer. People expect too much and have decided they are entitled to too many unrealistic things. You think that government is the answer to these things and that the government can provide for you and make things better. You will find that in the end they will make everything far worse than you ever imagined. Life is not perfect. Thinking government can make it so is unrealistic.
You have been warned.
Here is your one choice. You preserve your freedom and your "opportunity" to become one of some wealth or you choose bondage and no hope. There is no in between. There is no compromise. You are free ...or...you are not. You have a chance.....or you have no hope. To think otherwise is self deception.
Do not envy the success of another for it is the beacon of hope that one day you may become successful as well. The fact that ONE SINGLE person ever "made it" is proof that you can as well....if you preserve the opportunity. Give thanks for every success and praise their every accomplishment because that success holds out the possibility of your own. Thank those who provide the jobs and the means of furthering your goals and quit demonizing the hand that feeds you... or you will go hungry.
There hangs a dark day on the horizon in this country. It could well be the sunset of liberty and prosperity. Clear your heads and re-think what you are doing while you still have the choice and the chance to do so.
If you still do not see the natural progression of the current line of thinking in this country then I suggest that you read Ayn Rand's book "Atlas Shrugged." If, after reading that, you still cannot see your impending doom, than neither I nor any other thinking individual can help you.
