A NEW AMERICAN MANIFESTO
Identification of fundamental problems and solutions thereof:
It has become readily apparent that our American system of governance is broken, corrupted, ineffective, and destructive. We now find that we have an unresponsive government in place which no longer sees a need to listen to the people for whom those entrusted individuals work.
They are, at present, in the process of attempting to secure complete control and dominance over business, the state, and the very life of the individual. Our opposition has spent decades getting organized and infiltrating our governing system with people who are sympathetic to thier cause. They have put into place the machinery to crush the truth and silence any who attempt to speak out. Only a strong, unified, and well organized effort can repair the damage. It will mean getting the truth out and re-educating our people. The lies must be exposed.
They preach giving and all the while they are taking.
The legislation with which the American people find themselves burdened has been shaped, passed, and forced upon the people of this country by corrupt politicians, corrupt big business, extremist groups, and radicals of various schools of thought. We have little or no representation reflecting the views or opinions of the majority of freedom loving Americans.
Our system has evolved into a dysfunctional system. It must be refined to protect and keep in place the dream which has been a free democratic republic that is representative and respectful of individual and state rights.
The federal government has far exceeded those rights granted to the federal government by the constitution and has infringed upon those rights set aside for the states, local governments, and the individual citizens thereof.
This paper is not meant to identify all of the problems that exist at present. The list of problems in the federal government is far to lengthy to be addressed at once and in such a limited scope.
However, as Confucius once said " the journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step", and so it must be that we begin reform a step at a time. My hope with this writing is merely to set into motion a plan whereby we, the people, can once again form a responsive federal government and over timerestore our republic so that it again reflects the intent of our founders as well as the desire of the voters.
I will begin by identifying some fundamental problems with the current system which have prevented the people from maintaining a responsive government in Washington. I will then suggest steps to eliminate many of those problems and in so doing put into place a system whereby it will be most difficult to circumvent these issues in the future.
As the program is presented I would suggest the reader keep in mind that this is but the beginning and not the end. Americans must become involved and remain involved if we are to protect the constitution and the freedoms of American society. We must recognize our own personal responsibility as the custodians of freedom. We are the beacon of hope to the world and we must not let the light of that hope go out.
The tendency of Americans has always been to let things go until they get out of control before we react and then we not only react, we overreact. I caution people that although things have gotten out of control that we must use prudence in correcting the deficiencies which have become evident in our system. We must be vigilant that we do not overreact in the other direction.
It is not through violence or bloodshed that I see change possible, but merely right action. We must be informed and involved. For too long we have been complacent and silent. NO MORE! We must always remember "that the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." (Ben Franklin)
Granted, we have felt for far too long that our voices were never heard, that our votes were meaningless, and that we were powerless, even alone in our beliefs and feelings. This has been true to some extent but I am writing to explain how this can be reversed and my wish is that you find hope in my message. We are close, very close, to making a difference. People are waking up...they are now beginning to listen...and as Beck says...to question.
THE ANSWER LIES IN TRUTH AND HONOR.
I have one goal and one only. That my country be saved from the attacks happening from within before it is destroyed. I am of the opinion that America is currently on life support.
The idea of government health care insurance combined with the cap and trade bill will have the effect of unplugging this country from that life support. I did not sign a living will for America and do not believe that my fellow citizens have done so either. I can no longer delay or sit silent and watch the destruction of freedom, individual rights, or our country. This is an aggressive assault on this country and it must stop here and now. No more, America.
I must confess that I have paid very close attention to what is and has been happening in America for some time. With the new administration I have felt we are being overwhelmed on so many fronts by so many government agencies and bureaucracies in Washington that I have been absolutely stunned. If you have been watching all the things, and all the fronts, upon which we are currently under attack by Obama and his political machine of radicals and extremists, then likely you have felt the same.
I suspect that the plan was to do exactly that. This takeover of the federal government and the appointment of all these extremist Czars was a planned attack on so many fronts so as to create diversions which enable our rights to be circumvented in covert fashion before we could become aware of all that was happening. It is a transfusion of poison into our system of government.
I have seen the sales of conservative books explode and seen the conservative media, Fox News, explode in ratings. Although much has been exposed by these books and by Fox News, not many solutions or plans of action have been suggested. Problems, corruption, schemes, and proposals have been exposed , but no course of corrective action. No plan for making a real change.
I give kudos to Glen Beck. His efforts to wake up America and expose the problems, the corruption, and the things being done by groups like Acorn and our elected representatives have begun to stop and reverse some of the corruption. This is wonderful. I fear that it may not be sufficient in the end, but, it is a solid beginning.
My fear is that the problems which have allowed this corruption to take root will remain in place. That we will cause Washington to moderate or compromise on their radical agenda to the point that Americans feel somewhat appeased and again become quiet and complacent.
Make no mistake...the forces which are organized and allied against our country will not stop or go away. These forces have gradually and incrementally phased in their agendas over 60 years. If they have to back off... they are patient and will once again return with their attempts to advance their agenda unless we take steps that prevent it and remove the corruption.
The movement of the people, which is underway, must not stop with compromise while leaving intact the corruption which gave it birth and allowed the cancer to spread. The system must be modified to put an end to the corruption once and for all or it will continue to eat away a little at a time until the host is devoured.
This poison of corruption is spread throughout the system. The system has been rigged to further their agenda. They have learned how to work the system to their advantage. They have warped and twisted the entire system to their desires... clandestinely....at our expense and now our peril.
WHAT MUST BE DONE IS TO PUT IN PLACE THE MEANS TO PREVENT IT PERMANENTLY.
Although it is perhaps unnecessary, I wish to extend my apologies to my fellow countrymen. It has not been a recent revelation on my part as to how we might remedy the existing problems. I put together a plan back in 1994 which could have been rolled out long ago. Perhaps, if I had, we would not have reached the crisis we face today. I have modified the plan somewhat to fit current circumstances but the general idea is the same.
I saw long ago where we were headed. I'm sure many of my readers did as well. There was a movement in 1994 to make a change and throw out the bums in Washington. Ross Perot was running for office and a lot of people had hopes revived that we might at long last make a difference. Three things made me abandon my plan.
First; I had put together, amongst other things, the plan for a cable channel which would monitor Washington, investigate, and educate the public....much as Glen Beck is doing now. I sent my business plan to Ted Turner at CNN. At the time the idea of a great number of cable channels was new and the suggestion was that there would eventually be over 700 channels.
I saw that we could set up a channel devoted to that which Glen Beck is now doing on Fox News. I proposed it to Ted Turner because, at the time, his idea for CNN and it's subsequent success had shown the viability of a cable channel and I viewed Mr. Turner as an entrepreneur of vision, daring, and in a position to help make this happen. I explained that I thought the show, if done as I envisioned, would draw huge ratings and could help deliver the country back into the hands of the people by monitoring Washington and educating as well as keeping the public informed.
I think Glen's success on Fox bears me out on that. I never heard from Mr.
Turner nor do I know if he was ever given my plan by his office staff. It was only later that I became aware that Mr. Turner was left leaning and would most likely not have been interested in my plan anyway.
Second: Ross Perot suddenly, and unexpectedly, dropped out of the running for president. I, along with most of America, was stunned and puzzled as to why
such an outspoken and determined man should suddenly abandon it all. Here we had a no nonsense businessman willing to give of his time to restore some sensibility to government. It held out hope. It was over quickly. I suspect it discouraged thousands of people.
Thirdly; Americans then elected Clinton, who had been represented as an adulterer, a liar, a draft dodger and numerous other things smelling of corruption. For me, it was the final straw. I decided that if that was the type of person Americans felt represented their idea of a president, that there was nothing I could do for this country.
It is my hope that I was wrong in my assessment of my fellow American. I am going to lay out my vision herein. If I was mistaken in my opinion of the people in1994, perhaps this will be the seed which will spark the change we need. I believe that somewhere out there is the person or persons who can and will make it a reality. If I am wrong, it will at least have been presented and I may rest in peace that I at least shared it and did not remain silent.
To begin with, the American people need to accomplish a basic step. They must stop any and all conflict amongst themselves and UNITE.
About a year ago I explained to friends that what I saw coming was a great deal of unrest and concern over large numbers of issues with the incoming administration. The problem I said, " is that instead of having one central organization with which people can align themselves, there will be numerous groups and organizations which will spring up with a goal of addressing a specific issue of concern, and the problem that creates is that it makes it all the more difficult to do what must first be done and that is to UNITE."
These new groups have the effect of uniting a number of people on an issue. It may or may not be enough to affect change. What it does do is create so many worthwhile organizations and for so many worthwhile causes that the individual cannot participate in all and it therefore has the effect of watering down the opportunity to present one single united front.
In effect it serves to keep us from uniting into a group of enough strength to affect actual change. Real change requires that the people have one group with which they can focus their time, energy, attention, and money. Otherwise the enemy effectively keeps us at odds, in conflict through conflicting objectives, and makes us noisy but ineffective. It will require one group on one meaningful building block of change....but the correct kind of change.
IT MUST BE A UNIFYING ISSUE.
To make my point; just last week I received in the mail a packet of information from the U.S. Citizens Association. They have a good cause and I commend them for their efforts on behalf of our country. However, in the packet was a list of concerned citizens organizations numbering in excess of 80.
These organizations are all very worthwhile but they do serve to keep us from becoming one and presenting a united front. Our opposition is composed of numerous special interest groups and what they have done is to combine their efforts into one Alliance to further all their agendas. This coming together has allowed them to take our country in a direction that the majority of people in this country oppose. It is the same thing we must do. We must unite all our groups who are attempting to defend our country and our rights so that we have this same united clout. Ours will be the greater because we represent the majority. If all join and we follow the proposed plan, ALL issues can be addressed.
I don't care what race, nationality, religious denomination, or political party anyone belongs to. We all live here because we love America and our freedom. This is not about intolerance but about our country. All freedom loving Americans need to stand up and stop this attack on our lives and our country from within.
Those who believe in a different form a government should move to a country which has the form of government they prefer. In this country we believe in a democratic republic. We still have the freedom of mobility.... so they can leave, thanks to the freedom WE still allow them.
I have always said that if you do not like your job.....find another. But do not draw a paycheck while badmouthing your employer. If you draw the check, you owe the loyalty. If you cannot be loyal, move to an employer you can be loyal to. If these politicians hate America and our constitution so much, then it is time they find another job...and move. As long as they are on our payroll, however, then we have every reason to expect loyalty for our money.
My plan is that we should find ONE ISSUE THAT ALMOST EVERYONE CAN AGREE ON and unite to accomplish that one thing. Once we accomplish that one issue and people see that we can be effective and make the changes we need to make then we can gradually use our united effort to effect further change on additional issues based on the majority opinion and the priority set by of the majority of said members.
The issue need be one which puts into place a system which will establish the foundation for easy creation of responsive representation, insures their accountability to their constituents, and at the same time establishes recourse for voters which enables them to remove an official who fails to do the will of the voters, promptly, and not four or six years after the fact.
This can be done, but will require a well thought out and extremely well organized operation.
Let us talk about some fundamental problems with which we are faced. We have felt disenfranchised, but not without reason. The entire election system is flawed. We have a system which selects candidates for us by the allocation of campaign money.
Perhaps there is a candidate in the running who has sincere intentions of representing his or her constituents. He is not likely to ever get to Washington. If he does he is likely to find himself silenced or ineffective because he is but one among many. Because...if he managed to get through the maze of obstacles, he is likely the only one, or one of an ineffective few.
Why? First, the political parties have too much control over who gets campaign money. It is hard to run effectively and get the word out to the people as to where you stand on issues without money. It is hard to compete with those endorsed by the parties because they have the money to overwhelm in the media.
Second, the media has vilified anyone who runs that does not represent that which they seek to promote. Unfortunately the media has become very left leaning and their coverage is very partisan. If a candidate seeks to truly represent the people they will be attacked, vilified, and discredited at every turn.
The scrutiny which a candidate must endure, and the harassment of friends and family, discourages any civic minded individual from considering serving in public office. So, what we get are those self-serving, greedy, power hungry, career politicians who stand to gain personally from their election. They then make every effort to ensure that once in office they are never removed and their party machine works to help them as long as they go along with the party agenda.
Since they seek to remain in office as a career, they bend to the whims of the party and party leaders to ensure that at election time they are provided the funds to assure their re-election. They bury the legitimate opponent using the clout of the party and their considerable financial backing. If they fail to comply with the party agenda, they are cut off from campaign money. They are therefore manipulated by the party leaders such as Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid at present, or the leading Republicans, as the case may be.
Special interests further compound the problem with their huge donations ...millions.... to back candidates who promise to further the self-serving agendas of the special interest group(s). Once the candidate gets into office there are the paybacks to the special interest groups in the form of favorable legislation in return for the money. The effect is that they have bought off the candidate. He now works for them and not the people. This corrupts the entire system.
Most candidates decide to run for office either as a career or because they have found no successful niche in the private sector. There are a few exceptions, but generally speaking such is the case. It is one reason there are so many lawyers in Washington and so many career politicians.
Do you realize how few successful business owners have ever been in Washington? Do you realize that they are the ones who understand business and the free enterprise system? They understand capitalism and the effect of governmental interference in the markets. They understand that there are consequences of one's actions. That nothing in life is free. They are not in Washington. No one in government truly understands the business environment because they have never had to build a successful business out of nothing in the real world. ..against all odds...and in spite of governmental impediments to success.
It would be a wonderful thing if we could entice some successful businessmen and community leaders to offer public service for a short time and then return to private life and continue their business affairs. But the system does not encourage public service by those who care, and have so much to offer, it creates disincentives to serve.
For those successful individuals to serve it costs them. To give up a few years of their productive and profitable life in the private sector is a sacrifice. It is a sacrifice that would have to be made out of love of country rather than for profit because it would cost them money to put their private sector life on hold while they serve. It would benefit Americans, our country, and our free enterprise system if we could encourage a number of prominent business leaders to serve for periods in Washington to lend some accurate insight into policy making and encourage foresight and planning coupled with some real world understanding of life and business on the street.
Many years ago, perhaps when I took political science back in college, the issue of term limits for members of congress came up. I was undecided at the time as to whether it would be a good thing or bad. I recently took the time to read "Common Sense" the original version of Thomas Paine's booklet. How prophetic that he said in his pamphlet that those elected to represent us must have a term limit AND that those who serve to represent must always have to live under those same rules, laws, and regulations which they decide to pass on the people they represent.
Although I was uncertain of my opinion on term limits when it was first presented to me, after observing the effect on our country, our federal government and the election process overall, due to the absence of those two provisions I now agree completely with Thomas Paine. I am not sure how or why his opinion was not incorporated to begin with but one has only to observe that with which we are now faced to appreciate the wisdom of his words.
We have people in our national congress who have been there their entire adult lives. They live by different rules, have voted themselves automatic pay raises, have their own retirement program, have their own health care program, and in effect are above the law. They do not live by the same rules that the people live by.
Many have been in office for long years, some for twenty or thirty years or more. They have become insulated and isolated. They are completely out of touch with life for everyday Americans and could care less as to what we are up against, as it does not affect them in the least. As a result they no longer listen, no longer care, and are interested only in the continuation of their terms and the power they relish. They believe themselves untouchable...safe and secure in their positions. They believe the machine will protect them. For too many years it has done so. They view themselves as rulers not representatives.
It is therefore readily apparent that Thomas Paine understood all too well the eventuality of failing to limit terms and require that the representatives we elect live among the people and under the same conditions and regulations under which we must live.
It has become evident therefore that we, the people, must now implement term limits for both senators and congressmen. My personal feeling is that two terms is the absolute maximum any elected representative should be allowed to serve, but that stands as my opinion only. In the case of a successful individual in the private sector who decides to serve, it is likely that one term is all they would be willing to serve since their service would represent a financial sacrifice on their part.
Although it is not relative to this discussion. I suspect there are those of my readers who suspect that I am some sort of political activist. For the record I must confess that such is not the case. Indeed, I had no time to follow politics most of my life. It was the things the federal government did that affected me and my business interests in the 70's and 80's that finally pushed me to the point of paying more attention in the early 90's and by the mid 90's I had spent some amount of time considering what needed to be done to restore our country and our rights.
The current events and affronts to all we stand for, and believe in, has brought this to a point that requires action on my part, but not just my part, it requires action by all Americans who believe in this country and all that it was intended to be.
As a small business owner for many years I saw that our entrepreneurs must of necessity be creative, self-motivated, problem solvers. They must be thinkers and organizers. They must be diligent, forward thinking, and prudent. There are many requirements for becoming a successful independent business owner and operator. It is for many of these same reasons that I have always believed we needed their experience for periods of time in Washington.
After all, we have a governing system based on private property rights, free markets, free enterprise, capitalism...and who better understands those principles better than the individual assuming the risk and liabilities of opening a business and succeeding when statistics show that 80 % of new businesses fail.
The result would be a smoother running free enterprise system, fewer impediments to innovation, a lower cost of living, and less intrusion into the lives of individuals and business alike. There is probably no one group who understands better the negative effect, for all peoples, of federal government intervention into, and the manipulation of, the markets and the lives of our people than the small business operator and owner. Yet their input has been absent in our representation. To our detriment.
The small business community in this country hires approximately 60 to 65 percent of the population. The small business owner is at the heart of this proposal for that reason. Each employer has access to, and some responsibility for, his or her employees. It is there the process should begin in order to effectively reach a large number of Americans efficiently. The small business owners are also ready for change, and understand the need for it, which should make them very receptive to the plan.
The organization that is set up should have a number of goals. First, is to unite all these small business owners and their employees. The organization (my original name for it was "Voters of America" and for simplicity herein I will just refer to the proposed organization as VOA) would be set up to perform a number of functions for it's members which I will outline in the following.
Let me be clear as to the intent and necessary facets of this organization of the people. Whereas it will necessarily be large and cumbersome due to the fact that it must be national in scope and must necessarily have local and regional offices there will be room for abuse and scandal. All financials should be ran through an independent and reputable accounting firm with periodic audits; copies of which should be distributed to local and regional offices for distribution to each small business owner and member. Monies should be kept at arms length ie. donations made to VOA should go straight to a disinterested third party accounting firm.
In all things it must be "TRUTH AND HONOR"
The entire idea behind this is to provide the voting public with truth, honesty, integrity, and to do so with no hidden agendas or power grabs. If truth or integrity is compromised then all is for naught and hope for true reform is gone in a flash. The organization must make every effort to safeguard the trust of the people and to stay above any and all possible suspicion of any potential wrong doing.
There will be those who are employed as staff on a full time basis. Those officers and staff should be issued checks via the accounting firm with their signature as well as two officers of the organization. Neither the officers or the accounting firm should be able to issue a check without the other.
VOA would then contact and meet with small business owners across the country. The goal here is to: explain the goal of uniting them and their employees to select representatives who will go to Washington and vote according to the will of the voters in their voting district. My suggestion is to begin with local civic groups such as the Lions Club, Rotary, The Jaycees, etc. At some point local meetings in a public forum. This is to get the word to as many people as possible with each presentation rather than doing it one person at a time.
Local business owners who join up can assist by handing out materials to other business owners to further spread it in the beginning.
Employers will get petitions signed by their employees agreeing to vote for the candidate who agrees to enact those programs requested and to vote according to their wishes. Those petitions and signatures will be provided to the candidate selected.
VOA will interview candidates for office regarding their views and opinions on issues and make them known to the voters (the employers and employees) of each firm which is a member of VOA, as well as any other members who join. This is to be sent to the employer for distribution to employees. The employer may explain items to employees if and when necessary. (The employer accepts the responsibility for helping their employees which makes it unnecessary for VOA to work with each individual in order to streamline the program)
This is a delegation by VOA and a contribution on the part of the employer to make this less cumbersome and more likely to succeed.
Initially VOA will assist in finding a candidate willing to go to Washington to enact the legislation the voters seek in each voting district. VOA will have the selected candidate sign a "Contract of Intent" for the voters of his or her voting district. This is to state the items the voters expect to see enacted or voted upon and that the representative agrees to vote accordingly...according to the wish of the voters. A copy is to be provided to each firm for posting and or copying and distribution to each employee who is a registered voter in the district. This is to be a simple outline of items, issues, and the requested action on the part of the candidate. It should be simple, straightforward, and carry no legal ramifications for the candidate other than to make it clear that he or she will be recalled by the listed voters in the event of a failure to comply and to make it clear what is expected.
VOA will send copies to the other members including the elderly and retired persons who are member voters.
The candidate will be assured that the voters in the district will support him or her based on the agreement to enact the legislation requested and agreed to in the contract.
The candidate will further agree to poll the voters in their district prior to voting on issues which have not been previously agreed to in the contract and vote according to the majority vote in the district.
On international or national security matters in which a representative might be involved there will be discretion allowed the representative to allow for necessary confidentiality in such matters. However, the representative will be encouraged to be in close touch with the sentiments of his or her district because provisions will be put into place to provide for prompt recall if the representative goes against the will of the voters in the voting district.
VOA will monitor Washington and provide feedback to each member firm to allow the employer and the employees to follow closely the activities in Washington to assure that their wishes are indeed being met by their representative(s). Voting records will be provided to members.
This system will circumvent the problem of candidates who have been provided more funding by political parties or special interests and are being backed by the media winning any election. The winner of the election will be the candidate that the majority of the voters have selected and who has signed the Contract of Intent with those voters. They will not need to worry about media harassment or attacks or additional funding nor will they have to be wealthy to run for office.
VOA will need to begin by meeting with groups of businessmen and women and explaining the program and outlining the goals and intents of VOA. Much will fall to the employers, however. It was my personal experience over the years that meeting with my own employees and explaining things was easily accomplished. I had the credibility with my employees to be heard and listened to. Employers can be very good at organizing and assisting their own employees.
Employers and employees must necessarily back up their commitments with their vote. Each must understand that once they agree to the platform and commit their vote that they have to stick to their guns or the system will fail. You must put your vote where your mouth is so to speak.
VOA monitoring of Washington will be done from a national/home office. Each district will need to have a district office to work with employers and hold meetings together with the employer and employees if and when it becomes
necessary. Local and regional offices will disseminate a lot of the printed material.
VOA will periodically send a list of issues that need to be addressed by district representatives to the members and allow them to assign a priority to those issues based on their opinions as to the relative importance. They will have the ability to write in any issue not listed, but which is of concern to them. VOA will tabulate the results of this polling and provide the listed issues, prioritized according to the majority vote in the district, to the district representative together with an updated Contract of Intent outlining those issues.
Operations will be somewhat costly and will necessarily be supported by the contributions of members. Some may be monetary but many may contribute by volunteer work. The benefits from membership and the changes in governance to come will make membership an incredible bargain once VOA is in place and moving forward with changes.
In the beginning, and most likely on a rather continuous basis, members will need to be told that VOA will be attacked, scrutinized, vilified, and every effort by the existing powers will be made to shut VOA down and stop this. This program will rock the boat of every special interest group and big money thug in the country. It will forever change how government is managed and will not be desirable to the present elitists and power brokers who are running our lives.
Members will need to hold the faith and stick to their guns. The leadership of VOA is to be so decentralized, dispersed, and delegated that there is no one target other than VOA itself to serve as a target. The organization will come under scrutiny by every possible government agency they can use as a weapon.
VOA will be vilified and it is therefore imperative the organization remain squeaky clean at all times.
I expect they will attempt to stop this early on so it must be moved along expeditiously. The idea being to get it spread amongst so many so fast and so decentralized that no one individual is a worthwhile target for attack and it is unstoppable.
This system for getting viable candidates into office puts a stop to a number of problems. However, to insure that the Contracts of Intent have teeth we must insist on reforms that allow for a special election in the district to replace any candidate PROMPTLY if they breach the contract with their voters and replace them with another who will do as the voters in their district have directed.
This has made no allowance for the elderly or retired though I have not forgotten them. They are perhaps more likely to want to see our constitutional
rights restored and the federal government once again restrained to it's constitutional limitations, states rights restored, and individual freedoms assured than any one group as they best remember life in this country as it once was. They want to be assured that they pass those same freedoms on to their grandchildren.
Local offices would make all the same information available to them and hold meetings for their benefit as well as any other community members who are interested in making America strong again.
The previous discussion has not touched on an issue which will need to be addressed as well and that is to impose term limits on the federal judiciary. No more tenure. The judicial branch has been manipulated many times by the party in power and the effect has been to allow statists to infiltrate our judicial system and they are the ones who have been guilty of interpreting our constitution and our laws loosely and according to their left leaning or international whim. It is this problem that has enabled the federal government to exceed the rights assigned to it in the constitution and those must be reigned back in. Further violations must be prevented. An all powerful court has hurt the nation. No more legislating from the bench.
They have failed to interpret the constitution strictly and literally and it has allowed the federal government to circumvent our constitution many times over. Term limits will have to be applied and impeachment made a possibility in the event they stray from a true and unbiased interpretation within constitutional bounds. This will eliminate the ability of any given president or congress to shape the Supreme court to their ideology.
It will prevent the games in the senate over confirmation and assure that the single reason for appointment is strict adherence to the constitution and the Bill of Rights. These federal judges are spread throughout the federal courts and must be replaced as required to protect the civil society.
A Fair tax can finally be implemented. The IRS can be reduced to a comptroller of accounts for collection from merchants, and the individual and corporate income tax can finally be abolished.
The tax shall be set and congress shall not have the power to raise it without a referendum of the voters with 3/5 of the registered voting public approving of it.
All the various excise taxes must be stopped and the power to assess them in the future taken from the government. They have abused the power.
Automatic pay raises for congress should be stopped and in the future must be approved by the voters. The retirement program for congressional representatives is to be eliminated as well as their special health care. They will provide for themselves at their own expense just as all other Americans must do. Radical government regulations and policies that have been passed will be reviewed, revised, or repealed as necessary.
The media has been a problem but eventually the free market will correct that problem. Readers, subscribers and viewers will vote with their dollars and the media will come around again to honesty and good reporting or they will go bankrupt and disappear from the scene.
The department of education should be dissolved and the decisions for the education of our children shall be returned to the states and local communities. Text books will need to be reviewed and truth restored.
Systems will be determined to return the rights of the states and the financial stranglehold over the states by the fed removed. Mandates from the fed to the states will need to be stopped unless they are funded and deemed constitutional.
It might be considered whether or not to give the president the line item veto as well, though with adherence to the proposed system of selecting candidates it might be found to be unnecessary. In the event of future mismanagement in government, it can be arranged through the proposed system.
A balanced budget can become a constitutional amendment. Fiscal responsibility in government can be assured. Federal agencies will no longer be used as weapons because they will answer to the people and our elected representatives.
Special interests will have to present their case to the people and will be forced to comply with socially acceptable behavior. There will be no bribes or payoffs. They will no longer be able to stab us in the back. We will be able to hold firms and groups accountable for their actions.
This is an ambitious proposal and will require a great deal of work and refinement, however the rewards more than justify the effort required. I believe it should be clear that with these adjustments to the system we currently have that we can restore a responsive and democratic government to the people of these United States.
IN SUMMARY:
The proposal outlined will establish fair and just elections, reduce campaign costs, stop excessive lawmaking/legislating, stop the unnecessary expansion of federal government, create responsive government and representation, safeguard our constitution and our way of life, eliminate the corruption, eliminate the power of the special interests, improve government, eliminate earmarks or pork barrel spending, create a more responsible government, improve the business climate in America, boost the economy, increase the number of jobs, drop the cost of living, and improve the quality of life for all. It removes the adversarial rift between the people and our government and allows a more harmonious function.
The current system cannot be controlled, but assuming that it could, it would take several generations to repair the federal government, and frankly I doubt it would ever get done. The extremists would continue, as would the corruption and most likely they would eventually succeed. This proposal, on the other hand would permit the problems to be resolved in a matter of a few years. Our generation might actually live to see our country restored to it's rightful place and our legacy to our children would be one we could be proud of rather than ashamed of.
The one big secret to success is known to those who have stepped forth and acted upon a cause they recognized as worth doing. Those who sit back and attempt to foresee each necessary step or requirement or wait for everything to be just right, generally get buried in the details, procrastinate, and fail to ever act. The key is to act and work out the details as you go and as they come up.
The need is here. It is without doubt worth doing. It takes but the courage to act and take that first single step.
We do not need to overthrow our government or have blood in the streets. We need only refine our process a bit and we will restore our country to it's rightful place in history and on the world stage.
We are building VOA as you read this. Our plan is a long term plan to restore our government to the government our founders intended. While we have numerous short term actions which we are active with, our overall plan is to restore our country. If you are serious about restoring our freedoms and saving our country there is no doubt that you need to include your vote in doing so by being a member of VOA. We are not suggesting that you stop the things you are currently doing for the short term, but that you must not fail to be a part of the long term fight which must be engaged if we are to accomplish what we seek. We are working to unite the vote. If you are a voter...and you want real change...this is where you will need to be engaged.
Our organization is being built quietly and off the radar screen for now. We are putting people in place in every state and every voting district. We are locating people of various talents and skills. If you believe you have something to offer to the cause do not hesitate to let me know. You can email me from this site, leave a comment in the guest book, or if you found me on another site you may let me know there.
We thank all those who have joined us in the fight and welcome all who wish to join with us.
